Siuslaw Pioneer Museum

The Siuslaw Pioneer Museum features artifacts and displays featuring the early settlers, loggers and fishermen from the days when the river was the highway. Our Research Library has documentary information regarding the local history and pioneer families. And an audio-visual presentation shows a brief history of Florence along with information on early shipwrecks.

Perhaps you already know, but we want to be sure that everyone knows about our new location. We are now in Old Town Florence and no longer at the old location south of the bridge.

On February 1, 2006, the Siuslaw Pioneer Museum moved to its new location at 278 Maple Street in Florence historic Old Town at the corner of Maple and Second Streets. We are in the old school building that was constructed in 1905, preserving our local history in one of our historic locations. We are only one block off from US Highway 101 at the corner of Maple and Second Street, right at the entrance to Old Town.

We are closed from Thanksgiving until the end of January. However, we will open for organized groups by appointment only, and also for special occasions that we will announce.
We are also closed on Easter Sunday.

We are open every day except Monday from 12 Noon until 4:00 PM. Adult admission is $3.00, children under age 16 are free. Museum members also have free admission. Memberships are available at reasonable rates.
